Draft — email to Matthew Crosby asking for securities-attorney referral
To: mcrosby@schwartzip.com From: kris@moosequest.net Subject: Quick ask — referral for a securities attorney?
Hi Matthew,
Thanks again for moving fast on the MOOSEQUEST + RAXX filings this week — really appreciate you honoring the 2015 retainer credit.
Quick ask that's outside IP scope: as we keep designing the Raxx product, we've hit a wall that needs securities-law counsel rather than trademark counsel. The short version is that Raxx will ship an educational paper-trading experience with profile-based guidance ("Trial / Income Builder / Diversifier" with narrative copy that explains margin interest, fill aggressiveness, etc.). We want to make sure the educational framing stays clearly on the right side of the Investment Advisers Act §202(a)(11) line — i.e., generic education, not individualized advice — before we lock any copy for launch.
I don't want to wing this. Before I go cold-calling RIA-experienced attorneys, do you have anyone you'd recommend? Ideally someone who:
- Works with pre-launch fintech / SaaS startups at founder-solo or seed stage
- Knows §202(a)(11) and the edges around copy-trading / subscription-strategy products
- Is responsive to a one-off review engagement (probably a few hours of their time, not a retainer)
Happy to pay for the referral favor with the next round of IP work, or with whatever makes sense on your side.
Thanks again,
Kristerpher Henderson kris@moosequest.net MooseQuest / Raxx
